Consolidated Grain and Barges soybean processing plant, located in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, will mark a milestone in May 2002. The commemorative occasion is the crushing of one hundred million bushels of soybeans.
CGBs soybean plant commenced operation in November 1997. The plant has been a boon to farmers throughout the region. The plant processes 70,000 bushels of soybeans per day, or an average of 85 semi-loads of soybeans daily. Eight percent of those soybeans originate from within a one hundred mile radius of the plant.
Soybeans are processed into crude, or unrefined, oil and hi-protein soybean meal. 40% of the oil and 70% of the soybean meal sold in the export market. CGB also works with end-users to meet their specific protein and moisture requirements.
CGB soybean plant associates continue to maintain a safe and operationally efficient facility. As global economies expand and develop, CGBs soybean processing facility is helping to fulfill a growing demand for sophisticated diets around the world.
